ARTS & LETTERS
The Arts & Letters Committee highlights the artistic contributions of African-American people of the past and present, elevating them to public attention through music, dance, drama, and poetry. The committee promotes cultural endeavors and artists through activities and events such as Delta Red Carpet/theatre outings, concerts, plays, book readings, painting, and artists’ showcases.
Literary Luncheon
In fulfilling the goal to highlight works of authors of color, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Alumnae Chapter has sponsored the Literary Luncheon since 1997. More than just a literary reading, we seek to feature authors whose personal experiences augment their readings to provide a more inspiring presentation. Proceeds from this event assist in the development and implementation of our service programs. Previously featured authors include Alexs Pate, David Haynes, Rosalyn McMillan, Venise Berry, Omar Tyree, Valerie Wilson Wesley, Yolanda Joe, E. Lynn Harris, Diane McKinney Whetstone, Ian Smith, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tananarive Due, Pearl Cleage, Tina McElroy Ansa, J. California Cooper, Walter Mosley, Jewell Parker Rhodes, Hill Harper, Iyanla Vanzant, Susan Taylor, Marlon James, Jenifer Lewis and Corey Minor Smith.
