Vernetta Wilson Memorial Scholarship 1987- 2007: Celebrating 20 years of supporting access and opportunity to higher education.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Alumnae Chapter's annual scholarship is part of a larger commitment to provide encouragement and support to African-American students who choose higher education as their goal.
The Vernetta Wilson Scholarship was formed to honor the memory of our departed sister. Vernetta Wilson was an active member of the community who loved working with young adults. She instilled in them a sense of self-esteem and academic pride. She was fulfilling her dream of helping African-American youth pursue higher education when she succumbed to cancer on July 18, 1987. The scholarship was established later that year.
