Membership Development

Membership Services

The Membership Development Committee maintains viable membership reclamation and retention programs to help in stimulating participation in chapter programs and encouraging financial support.

The committee also develops and plans membership programs and services as directed by Grand Chapter.

The Membership Development Committee, in its continuous effort to find ways to reclaim, retain and restore, seeks to bring back into the organized life of the sorority all those women in the community who have been initiated into the sisterhood.

The committee plans and organizes the following activities within the chapter and ensures successful participation and attendance to each:

Fall activities:

• Round-Up

• Sisterhood Retreat

• Annual Kwanzaa & holiday potluck

Winter activities::

Founders Day celebration

Spring activities:

• Sisterhood month activities

• Delta Dear Tea/Recognition activity

The Membership Development Committee establishes and directs the Membership Services Center, a visibly designated location at each chapter meeting or gathering as required. This center provides the following services to the chapter:

• Chapter attendance sheet

  (Executive Board and chapter meetings)

• Committee reports

• Visitor and chapter recognition gifts

The Second Vice-President chairs the Membership Development Committee. Committee positions are open to any member of the chapter (i.e., has paid both local and national dues and in good standing with the sorority).

Finally, in addition to all aforementioned actions, the Membership Development Committee embraces and commits to upholding the nine cardinal virtues of our sisterhood and the Christian principles upon which Delta Sigma Theta was founded.
