President's Message

Welcome to the website of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about this chapter and its efforts to further Delta Sigma Theta’s
legacy of sisterhood, scholarship and service. For nearly 50 years, this chapter has committed itself to positively
impacting the Twin Cities metro area through our various programs and events.
Chartered in March 1966, our chapter – with over 100 members – is excited about the opportunities for continued
service in our community. Each year, the chapter awards scholarships, volunteers at organizations dedicated to
helping those in need, such as Bridging Inc., and conducts programs to assist in the positive growth of our youth
like the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy (for junior high school girls), the Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute
(for high school girls) and also hosts a seniors program for our more seasoned citizens. In addition, the
Minneapolis/St. Paul Alumnae Chapter supports the arts by sponsoring our Literary Luncheon, which highlights the
talents of authors of color. Proceeds from this annual event help fund our service programs.
Our long-term goal is to increase our presence in the community. In keeping with this goal, upcoming efforts include
a Day of Empowerment for World AIDS Day and educational campaigns for Census 2010.
We hope you enjoy our website and visit often to learn more about our future programs and events.
Sincerely,
Kimberly E. Purifoy
2009-11 President
